Invisible orthodontics is a new orthodontic system, different from the traditional ones, removable, comfortable and very esthetic because it is transparent.
Invisible orthodontics uses a series of clear aligners, which are removable and comfortable acrylic plates, with the aim of correcting developmental alterations, the shape of the dental arches, the position of the jaws and dental occlusion, trying to restore the morphological and functional balance of the mouth and face, as well as improving the facial esthetics.
Plastic orthodontics, commonly known as “invisible or clear aligners” is used during the mixed dentition, that is, when the primary teeth have started to be replaced, and in the permanent dentition. This type of invisible aligners is in great demand by parents and teenagers because they have the advantage that they are transparent and difficult to appreciate by others, and are removable for eating.
In cases of patients with open bites, deep bites, patients who require tooth extractions, situations in which many teeth must be displaced or in severe malocclusions, it would also be recommended, although it usually takes more time for correction than orthodontics with clear braces, also known as aesthetic braces, which are another type of treatment more discreet than traditional orthodontics.
There is no brand of clear braces that is better than another. The paediatric or juvenile dentist will analyze the case of each child, teenager or young adult and will suggest the most appropriate therapeutic possibilities for the treatment of their malocclusion.
The minimum treatment time for transparent aligners is not established since it depends on the type of malocclusion of the child, teenager or young adult, and, therefore, is individual and specific for each case. The patient will be analyzed by a photographic study and from the dental models taken. The estimated treatment time for each child, teenager or young adult will be indicated. It should be considered that, depending on the duration and number of plastic aligners used to correct the malocclusion of the child, adolescent or young adult, the price of invisible orthodontics will vary.
The invisible braces system consists of a series of clear aligners that are changed throughout the treatment, aligning progressively the teeth to their correct position. Once the teeth are positioned in their optimal place, other clear caps are usually prepared as dental retainers, to keep your teeth in proper alignment and prevent them from relapsing (shifting, moving, or returning partially to their initial position).
